Great comments on DNA. My position is bedrock beliefs are those things you are willing to die for and those four greats are certainly worthy giving one’s life for. In fact I think that’s what many of us having been doing all these years.

I’m working on a series I’m calling “Building a life that lasts” the series’ over all key text is Mat 7:24-27, where Jesus uses the image of house building and foundations and storms and floods. Your locating of Jesus as the foundational bedrock belief is the theme of the second sermon in the series, “A Great Foundation,” with 1 Cor. 3:10-15 as the key text. Paul and company had laid THE FOUNDATION, Jesus Christ, and now we all build on him with whatever it is we build with.

When my life, my house, has been hit by those category 5 or 6 hurricanes or 9.0 earthquakes…. how did i survive? Or what gave me the strength to rebuild?

When my congregation has been hit by those events… what was it that carried them through? Or, perhaps, has allowed them/us/me to rebuild?

OK, this has got me to thinking but I won’t do anymore of that here, thanks for your insights.

This is great stuff – I cannot emphasize enough the value of churches knowing their DNA.
Churches that don’t understand this flounder and their conflicts are much more severe and long lasting.
Thank you so much for your clarity.

Don’t you have an article on Expected Behaviors? If so – could you link it to this post?
I would like to hear more about this piece.

Thanks,
Anne
